Fire

A fire can be devastating for you and your family. A devastation that not only affects you at the time of the fire, but for months – and even years after. The Craftsmen Group can help you get things back to the way they were as soon as possible. Following a fire, feelings of confusion and stress are very common, and the Craftsmen Group can help rebuild and recover your home. After the fire trucks are gone we begin immediately by beginning the process not only fire damage restoration, but also water damage restoration. The Craftsmen Group has specialized fire and water damage cleanup and restoration training and experience to quickly restore your home to pre-fire condition. We also have specific training and equipment for odour removal and deep cleaning of upholstery and carpet.

Every fire damage event is a unique solution, but the Craftsmen Group employs a standard process of cleanup and rebuild to ensure your home is reconstructed in an efficient, effective manner. These are the typical steps undertaken in a “typical” fire damage emergency.

Step 1: Initial Assessment

Upon contact, your Craftsmen Group representative will immediately begin gathering information to ascertain the most appropriate response with regards to equipment and recourses required.

Step 2: Onsite Inspection of Damaged Property

The Craftsmen Group will rapidly deploy to your site for full inspection and determination of the extent of the fire, smoke, and water damage.

Step 3: Immediate Protection of Affected and Non-Affected areas

Our representative will secure any non-damaged areas from the natural elements as well as the entire site from human infringement. This includes boarding up open windows and doorways as well as tarping damaged roofs.

Step 4: Water Removal/Drying and Smoke Damage/Soot Cleaning)

This is the cleanup stage whereby we begin the process of drying out the property, removing damaged areas and cleaning up all areas of the premises. This includes removing all odors, etc. from “non-damaged” areas so as to ensure that these areas are restored to their pre-fire condition.

Step 5: Restoration

Now we are finally ready for the Restoration stage. This is the actual build out stage where The Craftsmen Group uses the latest in construction techniques and skills to physically reconstruct and rebuild the damaged portions of your home. Sometimes this involves minor repairs such as replacing drywall, painting, and installing new carpet; but it may also involve entail major repairs such as the reconstruction of various areas or rooms in a home or business – or even rebuilding it in its entirety. Whatever is required, The Craftsmen Group has the skills required to get the job done right, in a timely manner.

I just had a fire! Things to do and NOT to do before help arrives:

What To Do After A Fire

  • Remove valuable items from house if they are not damaged and it is safe to do so.
  • Limit movement in the home to prevent tracking of debris.
  • If electricity is off, empty freezer and refrigerator and prop doors open.
  • Clean and protect chrome with light coating of petroleum jelly or oil.
  • Wash houseplants on both sides of leaves.
  • Change HVAC filter.

What NOT To Do After A Fire

  • Don’t consume any packaged food or drinks that may have been compromised by the fire, heat or water
  • Don’t attempt to wash any walls or painted surfaces or shampoo carpet or upholstery – let the professionals do this as you run the risk “setting” the stains/odour.
  • Try not to use electrical items as their wiring may have been damaged.
