Shawn Morton, with over 35 years of experience in the construction industry, started his journey in construction and renovation with a focus on high-end renovations. After gaining extensive experience working with various renovation companies, he co-founded Craftsmen Group Inc. in 2008 alongside his business partner Marcell Maillot.
Craftsmen Group Inc. quickly became renowned for its commitment to quality, leadership, and excellent customer service among discerning homeowners in Calgary and the surrounding areas. While Marcell Maillot has since retired, the core values of providing top-notch products, services, and communication continue to drive the company forward under Shawn Morton’s leadership.
Gord Steinhauer – Project Manager
Gord Steinhauer brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his role as Project Manager at Craftsmen Group Inc. With over 8 years of dedicated service to the company and a background in construction, including owning his own electrical company, Gord’s skills and knowledge are invaluable.
His extensive experience in coordinating, estimating, and leading both residential and commercial construction projects have undoubtedly contributed to the success of over 500 projects under his leadership. Gord’s commitment to continuous learning and professional development is evident through his numerous certifications from the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC), covering areas such as water remediation, applied microbial remediation, and fire remediation. Additionally, his HAGG roofing inspector certification further demonstrates his dedication to mastering various aspects of the construction industry.

David Kieboom – Project Manager
David Kieboom has been an integral part of Craftsmen Group since May 2016 when he joined as a Project Manager. With an extensive background in the insurance industry, David brought over 13 years of experience, specifically in insurance claims handling various types of losses. His four years of property experience in this domain equipped him with invaluable skills and insights.
David’s proficiency with tools like Xactimate and Xactanalysis has significantly contributed to the team’s adaptability in dealing with different aspects of the program. Moreover, his commitment to professional development is evident through his completion of several IICRC certifications, including Water Damage, Fire & Smoke, and Odor Control.
Beyond his technical skills, David is known for his dedication to excellence and meticulous attention to detail. He takes pride in delivering top-notch customer service, always approaching his work with a friendly attitude and demeanor.
Outside of work, David values spending quality time with his family and enjoys leisure activities, particularly those that involve the outdoors such as spending time at the lake during the summer. Melanie James – Office Manager
Melanie became a member of Craftsmen Group in June 2021 after an accomplished 18-year tenure in Real Estate, which encompassed both Resale and New homes. Her profound understanding of houses and condominiums has granted her invaluable insights into the nuances of residential properties. Melanie’s adept problem-solving skills and exceptional ability to connect with people have been finely honed through years of experience.
In addition to her work in real estate, Melanie undertook freelance projects, collaborating with companies undergoing restructuring to develop strategies for their future success. What distinguishes Melanie is her ability to thrive amidst the dynamic challenges of a fast-paced office environment, as evidenced by her work with numerous clients over the years. Her steadfast dedication to personal and professional growth spanning two decades positions her as a leader within Craftsmen Group.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Melanie devotes her spare time to volunteering with various organizations. She has held leadership roles such as Chairperson at Dress for Success and Past President & Vice President of The Canadian Progress Club – Calgary City Center.
